Team India will be travelling to South Africa in the coming week for the upcoming tour. They will be facing South Africa in a Test series as well as in an ODI series.
Just before the South Africa tour, the BCCI took a big decision and removed Virat Kohli from the ODI captaincy. Virat Kohli, who left the T20 captaincy, wanted to remain the captain in the ODI format but the BCCI and selectors did not consider it appropriate and they wanted to have only one captain in white ball cricket. This is the reason why BCCI handed over the command to Rohit Sharma.
Ever since Virat Kohli gave up his T20 captaincy citing workload, all things have been pointing towards him losing ODI role too and the selectors, with the full-backing of the BCCI, took the bold step on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, after snatching the ODI captaincy from Virat Kohli, now there are reports that this veteran player will hardly play in the South Africa ODI series. Virat Kohli is furious with the BCCI and Sourav Ganguly because he was handed a 48-hour ultimatum to step down from the ODI captaincy of team India.
Virat could consider making himself unavailable for the ODI series against South Africa. This could be a way of telling to the BCCI behind the unfair decision. Virat Kohli is seriously thinking of making such a power move.
The BCCI should have given more time and thinking behind the decision rather than rushing it. . Moreover, if this controversy is not stopped here then this could have an adverse effect on Indian cricket. Indian management and coaching staff should do something about it.
