There’s nothing between Virat and Rohit, BCCI official clarifies

India and South Africa are all set to face each other in a thrilling series in South Africa. The men in blue will be leaving for South Africa from Mumbai on December 16.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma was ruled out of the entire Test series against the Proteas due to a hamstring injury, Kohli has decided to skip the ODIs on the tour to spend time with his family.
Kohli has asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India for a break in January to spend some time with his family. It is important to note that Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s daughter Vamika will turn one on January 9, 2022.

As soon as the news of Kohli giving the South Africa ODI series a miss emerged on Tuesday, rumours started surfacing on social media, suggesting a possible rift between him and Rohit over the recent captaincy change incident in limited-overs cricket. A Board of Control for Cricket in India official, however, has said fans to not believe the social media chatter.

He said, “Virat Kohli has informed us that he will not be available for the ODI series – he wants to spend time with family as he was in playing for many months with IPL, T20 WC – don’t read social media rumours, there is nothing between Rohit & Kohli.”
