3 players Dravid-led Team India management is set to groom for T20 World Cup 2022

India and New Zealand will be squaring off in a three-match T20I series, beginning Wednesday in Jaipur. This is the first assignment in charge for head coach Dravid and full-time T20I skipper Rohit.

Dravid has gained tremendous recognition during his just-concluded stint as the head coach at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. He produced enormous promising young talents, thus gaining enough recognition for the same. Young guns in the current Indian setup, consisting of Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson and many more, all flourished under the guidance of Dravid during his stint as the coach of India A and India U-19.

Dravid has to ensure that he continues to groom the young talents getting a chance in the team through domestic and Indian Premier League (IPL) performances. While he has always believed in giving every debutant an opportunity in a series, he has to continue the trend, which was not so regular under Shastri’s reign. However, Rahul Dravid is likely to groom Ruturaj Gaikwad, Venkatesh Iyer and Avesh Khan for the next T20 world cup.

Ruturaj Gaikwad :
Gaikwad’s T20I selection for India’s home series against NZ signals at Dravid’s fondness of him. If he actually impresses in whatever limited opportunities he gets, Rutu may as well find himself in the reckoning for 2022 T20 World Cup.

Venkatesh Iyar :
Venkatesh Iyer has also gone on to perform well in the IPL. Moreover, Rahul Dravid is looking at him as a replacement for Hardik Pandya.

Avesh Khan :
The third name that Rahul Dravid is ready to groom is Avesh Khan. Avesh also finds himself a place in this coveted list. Wearing DC jersey this season, Avesh Khan was destructive.
